For women who love the mountains.

Women with Altitude is a Mountaineering Ireland initiative to encourage women to take on greater challenges in mountaineering, be they personal challenges, technical or leadership challenges. Established in 2011, this initiative promotes and facilitate women’s participation by providing support with skills training and leadership development, inspirational role models and opportunities to network.

Bursary for MIA trainees

Funding from Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport programme allows WWA to provide a platform for women to experience mountaineering activities such as walking, navigation, scrambling and climbing. Our annual weekend offers many opportunities to gain experience and knowledge for those going through the lower level awards. We have some fantastic female instructors but are conscious that there needs to be a consistent number of women going through the higher awards such as the MIA in order to bolster female instructor numbers in the future. With this in mind, we are happy to announce a training bursary to support females going through MIA training
